TWO West Devon enterpreneurs have scooped a boost to their businesses, after striking it lucky in a prize draw. Vicky Hamlyn of Tavistock-based Snip ?n? Snap and Jacci Jourdan of South Zeal won a raffle organised by West Devon Business Information Point (BIP). The two received vouchers to be spent on business supplies from Devon Commercial Stationers Ltd, who sponsored the raffle. Vicki said she would be putting her prize money towards supplies for her dog grooming business, which she has been running since December. Jacci is currently setting up a business, developing two innovative products: a paddling pool which does not need blowing up and a multi-use picnic mat. They were presented with their prizes by Jay Dibbert of Devon Commercial Stationers and Brian Watson of West Devon BIP. Mr Watson said: ?Our aim is to ensure that new rural businesses get off to a really good start, so it?s great we have been able to give these two businesses even more of a helping hand.? Vicki and Jacci said the service provided by West Devon BIP had been ?invaluable?. Jacci said: ?BIP saved me weeks and weeks of time and money in shortcutting the process of registering my business. ?I?d already wasted time researching the information on the web but then BIP were able to put me in touch with exactly the people I needed to speak to.? More than 2,000 people have been helped by West Devon BIP since it was set up ten years ago. West Devon companies which are less than a year old, or still in the development stage, can receive up to four free one-to-one sessions with an experienced adviser on a wide range of business-related issues.
