AMID the gales and rain of last weekend, Throwleigh gallantly carried on with its fête, and was rewarded with a large turnout and good takings for village hall funds.

Trophy winners were Joan White, winning the Fox-Pitt Perpetual Trophy for vegetables, Kit Newsome winning the Booth Trophy for flowers, Judith Oakes winning the Perpetual Rose Bowl for home produce, Tabbin Almond winning the Croxford Memorial Trophy for bread making, and the Perpetual Junior Trophy went to Flynn Loram.

Despite the bad weather, takings were less than £100 down on the takings of the last village fête. Organisers expressed thanks to everyone who helped and attended.
