A CONCERT of contrasts took place recently at St Andrew's Church, Bere Ferrers, in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
St Andrew's Singers together with special guest Tyrone Piper provided a wide range of entertainment.
After a short introduction by the Rev Nick Law, the large audience settled down to a programme devised by Ann Parsons, of songs, hymns, poems, short stories and monologues.
The evening's nautical theme was upheld by Jane Hamlyn reciting the poem 'The Shout' of a dramatic rescue at sea, the St Andrew's Singers performing their versions of 'Hold On' and "I Dreamed a Dream' from Les Miserables and the words and music for 'Thank God for Lifeboat Crews' were specially written and performed by soprano Helena Rogers.
The vicar thanked accompanist Ann Parsons, Tyrone Piper, St Andrew's Singers, and Ann was presented with a bouquet.
