DARTMOOR?S wild land and its future is the subject of a talk by distinguished Dartmoor naturalist Rod Lawrence next Tuesday (May 18) at Horrabridge.

Mr Lawrence?s talk and slide show at Grimstone Manor links with safari walks taking place this Sunday and the following Sunday starting at Dartmeet and ?discovering wild places, beasts and some of our wild senses? as the organisers put it.

The talk will describe how Dartmoor?s land, once a wild forest, has changed over the centuries, the condition today of its plants, animals, birds and other creatures and the potential futures that lie ahead.

Climate change and a fundamental shift in agricultural policy towards support for the environment mean that changes are afoot for the moor in coming years.

The talk and walks are designed both to enhance our enjoyment of Dartmoor and to help those who participate to be well informed and thus well-placed to share in the debate which will shape Dartmoor?s land in the future.
