A FADED sepia photograph, thought to be at least 100 years old, has been discovered by an Okehampton couple, who would like to see the image restored to its rightful owner.

The picture, which shows a man and woman and three young women, was discovered by Bruce and Mary Neal, who live in Glendale Road.

Bruce said: 'We'd had this old picture, a religious scene with camels and three kings, in the attic for about 30 or 40 years.

'We've always carted this picture with us when we've moved because we thought it brought us luck — we found it in the rafters of our old house, in New Road.'

But recently Bruce and Mary realised the picture hid a secret image.

'We took it apart and realised this old photograph was behind it — it had been used to stiffen the picture,' said Mary.

'We don't know if it's an old Okehampton family and we just wondered if anyone would be interested in it.

'It looks like a mother and father and their daughters — they do look very alike.'

Anyone who recognises the family in the picture or who believes it could be an image of family relatives can call Bruce and Mary on 01837 52566.
