A LONG lost piece of Okehampton's history will be on show at the council chamber in the town hall today (Thursday) — courtesy of the mayor.
The chamber is open to the public between 10am and 5pm and will have a number of civic artefacts on display.
However Cllr Christine Marsh is delighted to have arranged for something rather special to be on view.
'I'm over-joyed to get this item,' said Cllr Marsh, who has been tracking the mystery item down for a number of years.
'When I managed to get it for the display I was like the cat with the cream. I could hardly contain myself. I'd like to see people's faces when they see the surprise item,' she said.
