MEDIEVAL music and the rock art of Kazakhstan will provide an evening of unusual entertainment in Chagford this Saturday, April 5. Dr Kenneth Lymer, an archaeologist and international lecturer who has travelled across Central Asia on expeditions searching for rock art, will give a talk on the discoveries in the Republic of Kazakhastan, taking listeners on a journey through the steppes and mountains of the country, while providing an introduction to the land and its people. Traditional and early music will be provided by Katy Marchant and Steve Tyler of the medieval music and dance-theatre group Daughters of Elvin, using gothic harp, recorders, bagpipes and hurdy gurdy. Admission to the event at Endecott House in Chagford is £5. Tickets available from Sally's Newsagent in The Square or from Katy on 01837 849030. The evening starts at 7.30pm.
