THERE was a wealth of music, from folk to rock and classical to jazz, at Bridestowe Party in the Park. Held in aid of Bridestowe, Sourton and Lydford pre-school group, the event was hailed a huge success by organiser and former opera singer Pippa MacDougall. Almost £2,000 was raised for the group, with 270 people attending. All who helped or took part volunteered their time. Pippa said as the first party had been such a success it was hoped it would become a mini-Glastonbury annual event. Musicians taking part, all local, were the Future Generation; Amy Paddon; Joe Menzies, a singer and songwriter of acoustic pop music; Pippa MacDougall, who provided a glimpse into her past operatic life; the Simple Things; Lucy Sizmur, who recently travelled to sing in Hong Kong with the Okehampton Big Band; the Barbaretts; One Point Five, a duo playing everything from jazz to rock?n?roll; and Beggars Belief, a five piece rock/punk/indie band. The event was opened by the Black Farmer, Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, who also donated sausages for the barbecue.
