TAVISTOCK College will be hosting Music Comes 2 Town next month, when a series of activities are geared to encourage youngsters to get involved. The event, on December 3, is a Devon Music Service project that celebrates music making. All Devon county ensembles will come to Tavistock to rehearse and perform. There will be professional musicians and public workshops offering opportunities for all to experience something new. The man behind getting MC2T to come to Tavistock was Peter Jones, who is chairman of Tavistock Music Live and the musical director of both Stannary Brass Band and Devon Youth Brass Band. ?The idea is to get young people to come and get involved, and parents to see what is involved. I want to encourage more music in Tavistock,? he said. ?This is for people that can play and for those that cannot, Tavistock Music Live are looking to do some more events in the New Year,? said Peter. The event includes public workshops and demonstrations with djembe drumming expert Denis Kigongo. A must for musicians and experts alike, Denis?s workshops are energetic, fun and a great opportunity to try something new. Special guests Tubalate will give two music demonstrations introducing their instruments and their approach to music. This internationally renowned brass ensemble will also give a lunchtime concert.
