TEN Royal Marines will be cycling from Tavistock to Durham tomorrow (Friday) as part of a charity event for Help for Heroes — but not without a good send off first!

One of the riders includes Tavistock Cpl James 'Ellie' Ellis, who is currently based on board HMS Bulwark with 4 Assault Squadron.

The seven-day, 600-mile cycle, starts today with a 14-mile trek from Plymouth to Tavistock, with the group stopping at the Ordulph as part of a special function for the charity.

The event from 7.30pm tonight will see live music by popular Tavistock duo 'Indigo' and a special presentation from the Royal Marines from 4 Assault Squadron in the function room.

Andy Coad, the owner of the Ordulph, has even said that all profits from the bar will go to Help for Heroes.

James Ellis said the Marines are looking forward to doing their bit for the charity.

He said: 'It was the troop officer, Captain Postgate, who decided to cycle there to meet the ship in Durham and to give the proceeds to Help for Heroes.

'We have all had mates who have been killed or injured so we wanted to do something special for Help for Heroes.'
