THE Winsford Centre is in for a busy period with charity events and weekly open days designed to encourage new visitors to the facility.
On Saturday July 30 the centre will hold a night of 'Jazz in the Marquee', with music from the Pete Canter Quintet.
Band leader Pete Canter is a professional jazz saxophonist, teacher and composer. His repertoire focuses on bebop, hardbop, latin jazz and Pete's own contemporary compositions.
He will be joined by trumpet player Mike Brewer of Ellingtonia, and a rhythm section centred on pianist Ian Wright.
The event starts at 7pm and there will be a licensed bar. Tickets cost £6.50 each — call the centre on 01409 221470.
The centre's summer open days will also take place every Friday until September 2. Visitors will be taken around the facility and learn about the centre's remarkable history, including its past as a community hospital.
The tours will also let visitors see the facilities and activities that take place at the centre. The tours run between noon and 3pm.
The Winsford Trust would like to encourage local artists and people interested in crafts to develop courses, activities, workshops and events linked to the centre's arts and crafts heritage. If you are a creative individual or organisation and have ideas for potential projects to run in conjunction with the trust, please call 01409 221470.
