THE Museum of Dartmoor Life in Okehampton is holding its annual volunteer recruitment days next week. Anybody interested in helping out at the museum is invited to meet existing volunteers over a cup of tea, and chat about the many different ways in which it is possible to become part of the attraction's growing team. Curator of the museum Maurie Webber stressed they are looking for people who can spare just a few hours every so often, as well as those who can offer a regular half-day each week. She said the museum is looking for trained, untrained, experienced and inexperienced staff: 'We need everything, from someone who can help research the items in our store, to someone who can greet visitors, to an IT enthusiast, to anyone who can use a feather duster.' In particular, Maurie said the museum is looking for a volunteer with retail experience to revitalise its shop. 'We need somebody with a good eye for choosing and displaying items that will sell in the museum and create a niche market here.' The museum is also keen to find an education assistant, who will have the opportunity to take a trip to Plymouth Museum to pick up tips and ideas there. The volunteer meetings are on Monday February 26 at 7pm, and Tuesday February 27 at 2pm.
