OKEHAMPTON Museum of Dartmoor Life will be re-opening in July after a major £600,000 refurbishment ? and the museum needs you!

More volunteers are being sought to help the museum embark on the exciting next stage in its development.

There will be many new interactive displays alongside the existing Dartmoor artefacts for which the museum is famed. It is now also fully accessible for visitors with disabilities.

The museum has one member of staff, Maurie Webber, the curator, and relies on volunteers to help with a variety of tasks in the following areas: research, education, conservation, marketing, stewards, school visits and serving in the shop. Training will be given.

Ms Webber said: ?We cannot run the museum without our volunteers and it doesn?t matter if you have only one hour a fortnight to spare, we will be very happy for you to be involved.

?Becoming a volunteer is a win-win situation as we hope you will find it enjoyable and the museum benefits too.?

Anyone interested in finding out more about becoming a volunteer can come along to an open evening on Tuesday, June 15 from 7.30pm. The evening will start in the White Hart Hotel, West Street, Okehampton, and move across to the museum during the course of the evening.
