A SERIES of fun and educational activity sessions are all set to swing into action at the Museum of Dartmoor Life. Okehampton Area Children?s Centre and the Museum of Dartmoor Life will be working together to provide a series of activity sessions for children aged 3 to 5. The sessions are free and the first one will be held on Friday December 7. The museum has developed a varied programme for the children, designed to encourage them to engage with exhibits at the museum. They will look at a particular exhibit and then talk about it. There will then be a selection of games, activities, stories and songs that will relate to the object they were looking at. The idea is that by concentrating on one particular aspect of the museum, they will then learn more about it. After the session is finished, children and parents will have the opportunity to explore the rest of the museum. Ruth Bushell, local services co-ordinator for Okehampton Children?s Centre, said: ?This is a good opportunity to work with another local organisation. We hope to provide children with new and exciting learning experiences. ?On offer will be themed sessions including arts and craft activities, stories and lots of fun for all the family.? The session on Friday December 7 starts at 10am and runs until 11.30am. It is hoped that these sessions will become a regular event in the New Year. A place for the session can be booked by contacting Okehampton Children?s Centre on 01837 658621.
