WOOLWELL youngsters started receiving some professional football coaching from the experts when they started ten weeks of training sessions earlier this month with Plymouth Argyle staff.
The training will be held on the new multi use games area (MUGA), where the chlldren will be able to practise their ball skills under floodlights.
Funding for the sessions has come from the police, the parish council and Devon County Council.
The ONSIDE community football initiative emphasises fun games and safe, activities and participants will receive a certificate and a possible match ticket to Plymouth Argyle.
The organisers say that the interest and feedback from young people has been positive.
John Rawlinson, the chairman of Devon County Council, said: 'This facility is excellent and the football coaching sessions will provide an enjoyable and educational activity for the young people in the area.'
Cllr John Smith, Devon County Council's executive member for children and young people's services and chairman of the Devon and Cornwall Police Authority, added: 'The impact this project will have in Woolwell will give many more young people access to positive activities to keep them active and developing new skills.'
