WEST Devon and Torridge MP Geoffrey Cox 'cut the ribbon' at an opening ceremony at Yelverton Post Office, last Friday to celebrate the launch of the new modern branch.

Mr Cox said: 'I'm delighted to officially open the new-look Yelverton Post Office. Nigel and Kirsty are to be congratulated on their work to develop the branch which will make a real difference for local residents and small business customers.

'I wish them continued success with their business.'

As part of Post Office plans to modernise the network and extend opening hours for customers, Yelverton Post Office now has three serving positions. These are a mixture of two screened counters and a Post Office serving point at the retail counter.

The opening hours have been extended by 39 hours a week and include Saturday afternoon, all day Sunday and earlier opening and significantly later closing every day.

The branch is run by sub-postmaster Nigel Hosking and his daughter, Kirsty Meleady.

Kirsty who hosted the official opening, said: 'We were delighted to have the opportunity to modernise the Post Office and very pleased to be re-launching it today for the community.

'I know customers will like the improvements and we'd like to thank Mr Cox for coming and our customers for being patient during the changes.'

The new opening hours are Monday to Saturday: 7.30am to 8pm and Sunday: 10am to 8pm, an increase of 39 hours a week.
