THE MP for West Devon and Torridge is to pull on his Wellingtons for a day in support of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution's 'Welly Week'.
The event, which runs from October 11 to 18, aims to help the farming charity raise some of the £200,000 a year it spends on specialist disability, mobility and home adaptation equipment for hundreds of country people in need.
MP Geofffrey Cox said: 'This is a charity which is deeply important in West Devon and Torridge, where we have large farming communities among whom, in hard times, it is inevitable that there will be some who need help.
'In those times, I know that practical help is available from this wonderful charity, so I am delighted to be taking part in Welly Week.'
The RABI was formed in 1820, and has since then been the national farming charity, supporting farmers through times of suffering, need, hardship or distress within the rural community.
The MP, who is a member of the select committee in the House of Commons which holds DEFRA to account, has campaigned over matters such as Bovine TB and Single Farm Payments.
