WEST Devon and Torridge MP Geoffrey Cox has written to the Post Office unit identifying sub-post office branches in Devon for closure, urging them to take into account the scarcity of public transport in many parts of West Devon, and the special value of post offices to rural communities. The MP, who last year organised and presented a parliamentary petition of thousands of signatures in the House of Commons and to Downing Street, is encouraging residents to 'prepare for battle'. Mr Cox pledged any post office targeted for closure but whose operators wish to stay open would have his active help. 'We must ensure the Post Office listens to what we say,' he said.
