Devon Cricket league 2nd XI C Division Tavistock 2nd XI v Thorverton 2nd XI AFTER a delayed start due to rain, Tavistock were asked to bat on a wet wicket in a 38 over a side match. The Tavistock openers again gave the side a good start, putting on 54 before Paul Strawbridge tried to hit the ball to Exeter and lost his off stump. James Kaminski then scored an entertaining 24 before he was caught at deep mid off. Phil Stephens (62) then joined John McGahey at the wicket, putting on a partnership of 101 before McGahey was caught for exactly 100. McGahey then declared, giving Thorverton five extra overs. Tavistock started well when Lee Baker ripped Cudby?s off stump out of the ground in the first over, but Birmingham, 34, and Webber, 31, steadied the shop before veteran John Rich bowled him with a dambuster delivery. Lee Baker came back, to end up with 5 for 19, but Tavistock could not get the last two wickets as Thorverton ended up 131 for 8. This gave Tavistock 15 points and moves them up to third in the table.
