AT the Bryanston School netball tournament, Mount House girls U13s played their best netball of the season so far, and won three first group games against Durlston Court (2-0), Ballard (4-1) and Yarrell's (3-0). They were strong in defence, with Eliza Jervoise ably supported by Phoebe Malcolm and Fern Toynton feeding the ball through the middle court players to the shooters Emily Redman and India Leigh. After losing the next game against Castle Court (2-4) they won the last two group games against Hazlegrove (5-2 and Port Regis (3-2). They were unfortunate to be beaten to top group spot on goal difference, and then went on to lose in the semi-final of the plate competition. This left Mount House in a creditable seventh place out of 25 schools. The under 11s had a busy but enlightening day against bigger and skilful teams, but with only one win, two draws and four defeats, were unable to progress beyond the group stage. In matches against St Peter's Lympstone, both U9 teams scored good victories. The A team is shaping up really well under captain Elsa Kent, and a tight first quarter ended with scores level at 2-2. In the middle quarters, St Peter's went ahead by one as the Mount House girls lost some concentration. They more than made up for it in the final quarter when they re-grouped to score four goals in six minutes for a well-earned 7-4 victory. The B team also gave a good account of themselves, with the Woolcock twins dominating the centre of the court and newcomer Samantha Unsworth-White making an impressive debut. Other outstanding contributions in a solid 3-1 win came from Lucy McCormick and Talia Barrasford.
