THERE'S a treat in store for lovers of traditional English dancing this weekend, with a rare showing of the comedy film 'Morris - A Life with Bells On'.
The film will be shown at The Wharf in Tavistock on Saturday — and will be accompanied by a display of dancing by a variety of different Morris sides.
Angela Court of The Wharf said: 'We are the furthest west cinema in the country that is showing this film, which seems a bit ludicrous.
'I've been in contact with quite a few Morris groups; we've got the local people Lodestone coming, Plymouth Maids and quite a few others and they are all going to dance at The Wharf — outside if the weather is dry, or inside if not.'
Angela said the event was a great opportunity for anyone who enjoys the spectacle of Morris dancing, who would like to learn more about the traditional skill, or even have a go themselves.
'It's something we would hate to see dying out — and there are so many different types of Morris dancing, it's not just hankies and bells.
'And the film itself is really good, it's very funny,' said Angela.
The Morris sides will be dancing at The Wharf from noon this Saturday — 'Morris - A Life with Bells On' (cert 12A) will be shown at 2pm — all welcome.
