Okehampton Ladies 3
Morgarrows Ladies 2
OKEHAMPTON rose to the occasion against a good Morgarrows side from St Ives in Cornwall.
Okehampton started brightly and had already created a number of chances before Jo Moppet's strong strike at goal opened the scoring.
With a great deal of movement off the ball by the forwards wing halves, Alex Collins and Hannah Whiteley in support and adding width to the attack.
Okehampton continued to cause Morgarrows' defence problems.
However, against the run of play, it was the Cornish ladies who went into the lead at 2-1 at half time from two well-taken goals.
With reassurance from coach, Andy Finlay, Oke, came out for the second half determined to win.
Jane Jones and Carol Taylor the two Centre backs, communicated well in their new roles and little come from the Morgarrow's attack through the middle.
Backs Sandy Douglas and Netty Collett, played with resolve and frustrated Morgarrow's and it took strong umpiring from Mark Parsons and Richard Jones to keep the Morgarrow's players in check.
Lesley Gibson and Louise Weller were pivetal in the midfield nipping any possible danger in the bud.
With Jo Moppet continuing her mazy runs and confusing the opposition defence, it was not long before the equaliser came when she set up Viv Weatherington, with Hannah Whiteley making sure the ball crossed the line.
Shortly afterwards, Okehampton scored from a short corner to give them the lead and eventually their win although Sophie Whiteley in goal had to play her part to ensure that Morgarrow's did not steal an equaliser on the remaining minutes.
