Three young West Devon livestock exhibitors are celebrating further success after competing in the National Calf Show in Peterborough last weekend.

At the All Breeds, All Britain Show, entrants from all over England, Scotland and Wales competed to win at the annual event which takes place at the East of England Showground. Saturday saw young classes and the Sunday calf classes.

Abi Marshall, 20, from Bridestowe took home the title of Champion Jersey Handler. Abi also received an honourable mention on Sunday in the calf class. Her Jersey cow is called Grand Amaretto. Also presented to judges was Gurnsey autumn Grand Little Lady Justice.

Exbourne-based Bee Hooper also won Champion Jersey Handler and fifteen-year-old Okehampton-based Sam Owen, who brought his British Fresian calf, also received an honourable mention in his respective calf class.

Abi’s mum, Tracy, said: ‘I think all of them are really pleased as they did remarkably well. We’re very proud of them. Abi is all finished for the year now as this season is over, it starts again in May next year. She’s currently working very hard on a daily farm in Bridestowe. In the meantime, the Borderway UK Dairy Expo is taking place in March of next year, so that’s next on the cards for us.’
