Tavistock U13s 24
Launceston U13s 12
TAVISTOCK took the initiative directly from the kick-off and for much of the first half the game was played deep in Launceston territory. Dynamic forward play by James, Ben L, Theo and Will G provided great ball for Ben M, Dan and Laurence in the back division but strong defence from the Launceston centres kept Tavistock at bay.
Play moved from side to side before scrum half Ben G sniped up the blind side from the base of a ruck set up by Cameron, Chris and Harry and sprinted 30 yards up the touchline to open the scoring. Tavistock should have increased their lead given their territorial advantage but Launceston came back strongly to score and Tavistock were only 7-5 ahead at half-time.
With the wind behind them and the slope in their favour in the second half, Tavistock began to dominate. The replacement front row of Rory, Richard and Greg controled the scrums and together with Steve and Callum breaking out from the rucks and mauls created the forward momentum which allowed Alex and George to release Ethan and Will P out wide to score three match winning tries in quick succession. Launceston never gave up and came back to score again towards the end but Tavistock ended up as worthy winners.

The first Tavy try coming from a patient build up with Harry Richardson powering over.
Chiefs struck back straight from the restart but not to be outdone, Harry Edwards replied with a strong run through the middle. A tough first half saw the Chiefs equalise again but Tavistock battled on with another strong push by the Tavy forwards to take Noah Berridge over the line.
Second half saw Tavistock step on the gas with a try for Oscar Campbell. Henry Varndell-Dawes was rewarded for his consistent forays and rock solid tackling with an interception try. Tavy took control with another try coming from some great pressure pushing Chiefs back from halfway , Louis Peake scooping up the loose ball scoring Tavistock's fifth. A CHANGE of personnel for the second game for both sides, but no change in the attitude. Forwards Jacks Bellamy and Baker and Dylan Owen took over. Time and again Tavy stole the Chiefs scrum ball to launch attacks with James Kenyon emerging from tight tussles with ball in hand and making good yards, finally being rewarded with a try. The flood gates opened with tries from Henry, Jack Bellamy and a determined run down the 5m channel by Noah Berridge. Further tries for Noah and James and a break for the corner gave Harry Richardson a final try.
