FURTHER amenities could be established for the youth of Harrowbarrow and Metherell following the granting of planning permission for a village hall extension.
The annual meeting of the local community association was advised of the granting of permission for change of use of land adjacent to Harrowbarrow and Metherell village hall from agriculture to recreation and leisure and for the hall extension.
The committee was authorised to proceed with obtaining costings and exploring sponsorship for the necessary work so that the amenities for the youth could be extended.
The community association had had a successful year, during which a Short Mats Bowling Club had been formed, with a grant from Awards for All providing quality equipment.
Concern was expressed at the meeting of increased parking in the villages, which could handicap the access of emergency vehicles, and it was agreed to seek the advice of the Highway Authorities and the police over the matter.
Michael Enright was elected chairman for the coming year with John Eccles as vice-chairman, the general secretary being Wesley Wilton.
