Carlsberg South Western League Challenge Cup 1st round

Tavistock 2

Plymouth Parkway 1

THE decision to bring this game forward to Friday to avoid a clash with the England v Wales game proved to be the correct one.

A perfect evening weather wise, a decent sized crowd and a morale boosting victory for the Lambs.

Ian Collicott replaced the injured Darren Halfyard at full back and Lance Bailey deputised for the injured Mark Wall.

Despite a good start the Lambs found themselves a goal down after just 10 minutes as a quick free kick caught out the defence to allow ex Lambs striker Marcus Crocker to head unmarked firmly pass Andy Meeds.

Ten minutes later Meeds kept the Lambs in the game as he palmed away a goal bound effort from Liam Price.

The Lambs struck back 10 minutes prior to the interval with the goal of the game.

James Steer got down the left to cross in low for Paul Adcock to turn it back in at the far post to Mark Keith who, despite being closed down, somehow managed to get his shot in leaving keeper James Dungey helpless.

It was on 65 minutes that the Lambs took the lead as Will Westlake drilled the ball low past the wall and a diving Dungey.

Parkway applied the pressure for the remainder of the game to get the all important equaliser but the Lambs? defence held firm to deny them to record a very good victory.

The Lambs can now look forward to the next round in the New Year on January 3.

Saturday: Carlsberg South Western League home to Penzance kick off 3pm. Plymouth and West Devon Combination League Intermediate Division away to Dean Wood Plastering at Tothill kick off 2-30pm.
