Totnes 1

Okehampton Columbines 6

THIS was a comfortable win for Okehampton ladies' hockey team and Totnes never really caused any problems in this Devon Plate hockey clash.

Jo Stephens and Sue Stanbury had the middle sewn up which prevented Totnes from getting an attack going.

Jo Moppett and Kelly Cooper were virtually unstoppable going forward and the Totnes defence did not have an answer to their quick running and skilful interplay.

Okehampton were 3-0 ahead at half time and there was little change in the pattern of the second half.

Sharon Stephens made a flurry of saves in a short period, but Okehampton continued to dominate and could well have doubled their tally.

Moppett netted her hat-trick, Cooper scored a brace and Sue Stanbury scored from a well-taken short corner.

Totnes pulled one back in a momentary lapse of concentration by the Columbines, but there was never any doubt as to the final outcome.

This week Okehampton travel to Teignmouth for a friendly.
