TWO top sportspeople spoke about how Dartmoor has inspired their training at the launch of an exhibition showcasing the variety of activities available on the moor throughout the year last Friday.

The 'Active Summer' exhibition runs until September 25 at the National Park Visitor Centre at Princetown.

Olympian pistol shooter Georgina Geikie from South Tawton talked about the how the range of activities she undertakes on Dartmoor help her physically and mentally for her discipline.

Mountain marathon man Kevin Carr, from Ilsington, talked about his preparations before starting his Guinness World Record attempt at the end of July for the fastest circumnavigation of the world on foot — an incredible 18 months and 23 days target at an average of 32 miles a day. His challenge will begin and end at Haytor, Dartmoor's most famous tor.
