Halwill 1

Chagford 4

CHAGFORD came away with their first points of the season but only after a much improved second half performance.

Despite taking an early lead courtesy of Dan Johnston, the visitors struggled to raise their game to the standards they are capable of.

Patchy spells, lack of concentration and a stronger Halwill side combined to put Chagford under pressure frequently.

A home equaliser, just before half-time, did not bode well but the break was used to good effect by manager Duncan Vincent to rally his team.

It was almost a different Chagford team that commenced the second half, as they found new determination and a much better attitude.

Two goals from Joe Whatley, the second a stunning free-kick, gave Chagford a two goal cushion and the win was rounded off nicely when Jon Scarry came off the bench to net his third of the season.

THIS game was over in the first half an hour as Town weathered early Chagford pressure before netting four times in quick time. Despite their bright start too many mistakes cost the hosts dearly and, despite attempted re-organisation at different stages, it seemed nothing was going to work.

The second half was a little better for Chagford as they strove to recover some pride, they were able to contain Honiton somewhat but were unable to pull anything back.
