WALKERS in West Devon are invited to join the Hospice Hike for St Luke's Hospice this September. This ten-mile hike on Dartmoor will start and finish at the Two Bridges Hotel and take you across a terrain of marshland, wooded valleys, dramatic tors and sweeping moorland. Highlights on the route will include one of the highest oak woods in Britain, Wistman's Wood, the ancient Dartmoor Way and Longaford Tor, where the beast of Dartmoor has been spotted! As you return from your walk, you will be able to relax in the comfort of the Two Bridges Hotel with a complimentary cream tea and enjoy some light entertainment. Senior community fundraiser at St Luke's, Nina Wearne, said: 'You can't beat a nice Sunday walk across Dartmoor and this event will appeal to our supporters who love the great outdoors and want to take in some great points of interest.' 'It's events like this that help towards the £4.5million we need to raise every year to keep St Luke's serving the local community with essential end of life care. 'We would like to thank the Two Bridges Hotel for their support in hosting the event and their offer of a complimentary nights' stay for two people in one of their suites for the walker who raises the most money through sponsorship.' Registered participants are required to sign in at 10am on the day of the walk, Sunday, September 21. The estimated time for the walk is around five hours.  There is a £12 registration fee in advance which includes your Devonshire cream tea, or £15 on the day.
