THE third Dartmoor Society debate takes place at the function room in Princetown's Plume of Feathers next month.
The topic is Dartmoor Tourism — How Much? and speakers are Joy Wishlade, tourism co-ordinator of the Dartmoor Tourist Association, and Oz Ozborne, of WestDEN.
The society says tourism is often presented as the solution for ailing businesses yet experience often indicates that it encourages low wages and insecurity and its impact in environmental terms is not always beneficial.
What sort of tourism could make a really positive contribution to Dartmoor? asks the society.
The debate will be followed by an hour of general discussion.
A buffet supper with bar will be available.
The price, including buffet, is £3.50 to society members, £4 to non-members.
Places are limited and must be booked in advance. Cheques should be sent to the society at PO Box 38, Tavistock, PL19 OXJ, by Saturday September 16.
The debate takes place on Thursday September 21 from 7pm to 9pm.
