A SPECIAL Navigation Weekend has been organised by Dartmoor National Park Authority to help those who lack the confidence to explore the open moorland.
The weekend, on October 9 and 10, will teach the necessary skills to enjoy walking a little further and to venture off the road. The first session at 10.15am on the Saturday is navigating for beginners and will last six hours.
Those taking part will then go out on to the moor to try out their new skills, under the supervision of qualified National Park guide John Whiting.
Pre-booking is essential on 01822 890414.
In the evening, the Dartmoor Rescue Group will present To The Rescue, a first hand account of the work of their organisation. This will start at 7pm at the Plume of Feathers.
On Sunday at 10.15am, National Park guide Debbie Jenkin will host a family navigation day at Princetown. This is also a six-hour session, with indoor and outdoor elements, and has been designed for all the family to enjoy. Pre-booking is essential on the above number.
