AUGUST proved to be a busy month for the North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team, which was called out to three incidents last month.
The first incident on August 13 was to help search for an elderly lady from the Torbay area, who had been missing since the previous day. After an extensive search, she was located safe and well.
On August 19 the team was called out to Ivy Tor near Belstone to help a walker who had slipped and sustained a head injury.
The NDSART and an ambulance crew worked together to carry the casualty by stretcher through difficult terrain for half a kilometre to an awaiting ambulance.
Their final call out was on August 31. The team was requested to assist the police to search for a 35 year old woman who had gone missing near Bow. She was located and airlifted to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital by police helicopter.
As part of the team's fundraising efforts for their new rescue centre in Okehampton, the Cambridge University Ceilidh Band will be performing at the Charter Hall on Saturday, September 8. Doors open at 7pm. All proceeds will be in aid of the team. Tickets cost £6 each (£3 concessions) and are available on the door.
