Devon and Exeter division one

Chagford 1

Exmouth

Amateurs 2

BASED on their first half performance, Chagford did not deserve to achieve a result but did well to almost win a point in the second.

In the first few minutes, Exmouth were only denied by some desperate defending and a lot of Chagford luck. After hitting the post and crossbar, Exmouth finally took the lead as the hosts conceded another soft goal.

Just a goal behind at the break, Chagford tightened up and started to build their own forward thrusts. Patience was rewarded as Will Cork fired in a late equaliser and hopes of a point were raised.

With time running out the Exeter side scored their winner in the final moments.

Devon and Exeter division six

East Budleigh Res 2

Chagford Res 2

CHAGFORD faced the team that had knocked them out of the Football Express Cup the week before.

The most notable absentee was Saul Scarry who is still out with an injured shoulder. Two goals to the good, through Jake Rowe and Gavin Forsey, and Chagford seemed in control for much of the match. They were somewhat stunned to be pulled back late in the game but had to settle for a point at the end.

Devon Veterans

Timepiece Vets 1

Chagford Veterans 7

PLAYING their first competitive match, Chagford Veterans ran riot in the second half and completely overwhelmed their hosts.

Some 'legendary' names from days past lined up and got on the score-sheet. Chris Ralph netted twice, his brother Simon once, with Reg Wonnacott, Colin Mortimer, Gary Mortimer and Shaun Scarry also contributing singles.
