SOUTH ZEAL-based Moor Harmony Singers achieved success at the prestigious Devon Festival of Performing Arts in Exeter earlier this month. The singers performed at the festival in South Street Baptist Church on March 5, entering the event in the mixed voice choir and choral societies section. In the mixed choir section, the singers performed two pieces from memory ? Byrd?s Ave verum corpus and a Celtic blessing by Fiona McCleod. The group received a certificate of commendation after scoring 86 marks out of 100. In the choral society section they performed Agnus dei from Faure?s Requiem, which was amazingly, the same piece which the Exeter Choral Society chose to perform. Their score of 87 earned the singers a certificate of distinction. The group will next be singing at the summer Open Garden?s event in South Zeal which takes place on June 19.
