TAVISTOCK u11s had a surprise three-way competition at Launceston. Tavistock watched Penryn, one of the strongest sides in Cornwall, comfortably beat Launceston. Tavistock then played their first match against Penryn and put on their best first half display ever. All the players had a great 20 minutes, with the Ross brothers, Finlay and Callum, shining along with Matt Earp and Alex Boswell. After continuous pressure the ball flew from the scrum, was passed expertly down the line and Josh Birch went over to score. The reliable Dan Dawes converted. Penryn got into their stride in the second half, and despite fierce defence from the whole team, three unanswered tries were scored and Tavistock went down 7-21. Charlie Woods in the lineout, Aaron Dobey and Darcy Bourton in the tackle should be mentioned, but the whole team played well. The second match against Launceston saw a somewhat tired Tavistock go to 0-14, despite penetrating running from Finlay and Callum Ross, Josh Birch and Matt Earp. Tavistock were stopped on the line on a number of occasions and could have scored three or four tries. In the second half the fightback came and Aaron Dobey popped out of a scrum and dived over the line to score. Unfortunately, time had run out, leaving Tavistock narrowly losing 7-14.

North Okes U11s 26 Cullompton U11s 14 NORTH OKES played a well organised Cullompton. Attacking from the outset, Ollie Francis went over in the corner from the back of a maul. Callum Barber scored his first try of the season from a mistake by Cullompton in the line-out. Cullompton hit back with tries from some great passing moves. In the second half a bullocking Ike Francis crashed over from a penalty move supported by the rest of the pack. Will Cooper kicked three conversions, and Calum Pilavent crossed for the last score.
