A BODY found in woods in the Chagford area on Sunday is believed to be that of pensioner Pat Boyden who went missing from her home over two months ago.

Police said items of distinctive jewellery found on the body had been identified by Mrs Boyden's husband as belonging to her.

An extensive search of the area was conducted by the four sections of the Dartmoor Rescue Group on Sunday at the request of police.

It was called off following the discovery of the body at 10.25am.

Police spokeswoman WPC Sharon Newman said although a number of searches had been done before to no avail, officers requested another one at this time because there was less bracken and vegetation on the moor.

She said there were no suspicious circumstances regarding the death in relation to the body that was found.

Active walker Mrs Boyden,73, who suffered from Alzheimer's Disease, went missing from her home in Chagford on September 11.
