IT seems the sky is the limit for a former student of Okehampton College, last week honoured for his work in media and the arts.
Misha Vertkin is now studying Drama and Film at Bristol University, but picked up an award from Exeter College at their annual student awards ceremony on Wednesday January 5.
Nineteen-year-old Misha picked up the award for Exeter College Art and Design Student of the Year, after he studied A levels in art and design, fine art, drama and theatre studies, and English literature.
On the same night, Misha also picked up his Express and Echo Entertainment Teen Team award, recognising his contribution to society.
Misha won the Phoenix film competition with a piece of work called Steal, and has also produced work for Devon and Cornwall Police. He also filmed young bands in the final of the Teenage Rampage competition for BBC 2 and BBC Switch.
The teenager is currently working on a documentary which has received an international distribution deal from Sky, and is also busy setting up his own production company.
Misha said of his future ambitions: 'I've already been doing what I wanted for the past three years. It's about finding the balance between commercial and personal projects and that is what I am going to carry on doing when I graduate.
'It is nice to have been given this recognition, and it is great to have been at the awards ceremony.'
The 28 awards were presented to the students by one of Exeter College's most famous alumni, Michael Caines MBE, two star Michelin chef at Gidleigh Park.
