AN art exhibition, by Tavistock-based Yana Trevail, opens later this month at the Tamar Valley Centre, near Gunnislake, exploring the industrial archaeology and rich mining heritage of the Tamar Valley.
The month-long exhibition – entitled Strange Dichotomy - will feature 16 paintings that depict the enclosed and steeply wooded Tamar Valley. Yana Trevail explained the title of her show: 'It's not just the forms and colours of the landscape that informs my painting, but also its special, haunting atmosphere. In this unique environment, I was aware of a strange dichotomy of nature and artifice, of past commotion and present tranquillity: that I was here now and not there then.'
The exhibition has been organised by Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) team.
Strange Dichotomy begins on Monday May 17 and will be on show until Friday June 11.
The Tamar Valley Centre is open Monday to Friday, 10.30am to 3.30pm. For further information, call the centre on 01822 835030 or email [email protected]">[email protected]
