WORK to cap mineshafts in Horrabridge is due for completion in April and Pencrebar Road will remain closed until then, according to parish council chairman David Cloke.
Cllr Cloke said service suppliers had been busy re-routing their various supplies around the areas concerned. 'BT have moved underground cables and refilled trenches and SWW have laid on a temporary supply to the affected housing on the MOD estate,' he said.
The appointed construction company is preparing concrete plugs to seal the shafts preceding final resurfacing, which is due to be finished in early April.
'Unfortunately, Pencrebar Road will remain closed as a through-road until then. However, the positive news is that now that these particular shafts have been located the danger can be remedied and possible future problems alleviated,' Cllr Cloke said.
