Horrabridge Rangers 5

HORRABRIDGE got the job done but did not really hit top gear throughout the match.

Horrabridge took the lead after five minutes when good work from Aaron Johnson led to Courtney Fry tapping home from eight yards.

Horrabridge had the majority of the possession throughout the first half but it was not until the final five minutes of the half that they made it count. First Aaron Johnson scored from distance and Billy Rawlinson added a third after good work from Max Burgess. Johnson scored his second of the game on the stroke of half-time, again from distance, with a stunning strike giving the home keeper no chance.

Horrabridge played most of the second half with only ten men as injuries took a toll, but still managed to dominate without really troubling the home keeper. It was not until two minutes from time that Horrabridge scored their only goal of the half when Burgess sent Courtney Fry through to score past the keeper from 12 yards.

Horrabridge now meet Woolwell Juniors in the semi-final of the league cup.

Man of the match: Alex Madar.

North Molton SC 7

HORRABRIDGE, playing their second game in two days, were unlucky to come up against a fit and physical North Molton side. Playing uphill in the first half, Horrabridge defended bravely with Jack Northam, Will Glanville and Joe Dyke all outstanding in the home side's defence after the visitors applied early pressure.

The away side took the lead after 15 minutes after a superb strike from the visiting forward, left keeper Oliver Cox with no chance.

This gave Horrabridge a wake-up call and they got back into the game when Aaron Johnson beat two defenders to send Courtney Fry clear. He beat two defenders to then fire past the keeper.

Horrabridge had their chances to take the lead but were guilty of some wayward shooting. North Molton made Horrabridge pay for this as they scored two goals on the stroke of half-time to take a 3-1 lead at the interval.

Both sides came out in the second half looking to attack and, created plenty of chances but it was the visitors who scored first from distance. Horrabridge came back at their opponents and after good work from Kieran Alder, Max Burgess then fired home from 12 yards to keep the game alive. The next goal was always going to be crucial and it was the visitors who scored it after Horrabridge were caught on the counter attack, North Molton added two goals to their tally to put the tie beyond the home side's reach.

Horrabridge scored their third at the end courtesy of a stunning strike from 20 yards by Courtney Fry.

Man of the match: Jack Northam.
