A CHANCE to stretch your brain and compete in mind sports events is on offer this month. Mind Sports Academy, part of Mind Sports International Ltd, is playing host to chess, Scrabble, Magic: The Gathering, Hearthstone and Starcraft 2 tournaments, as part of a national UK tour on Saturday and Sunday, August 16 and 17. Players of all ages and abilities from West Devon can attend the event at Plymouth College of Art, where they can play for free or buy in to cash prize tournaments and win a seat at the world championships in London in November. There will be free discovery sessions to take part in with experts on hand to help those who have never played the games or for those who haven't played in a while. Mind Sports is now starting to encourage the playing of chess and scrabble in schools by rolling out one hundred educational packages which will hit schools in September.
