LADIES from a West Devon accountants firm took to the streets of Plymouth in the dark recently, to walk in aid of St Lukes Hospice.

The five ladies from Mary Tavy accountants Diana Heal & Co, took part in a mass midnight walk covering 13 miles to raise money for the charity.

One of the ladies, Sue Maas and her daughter Helen, walked in memory of Sues husband Ray, who died of cancer in the Plymouth hospice four years ago.

The staff also walked in memory of one of their clients who died at the hospice a year a go and had been a volunteer at St Lukes for many years.

The ladies managed to raise more than £1,400 for the charity.

Firm owner Diana Heal said: We really enjoyed it, there was a lovely atmosphere.

It was so nice to be supported by people along the way.

What I found odd was how light it was it didnt feel like walking at midnight.

Diana and the ladies completed the 13 mile walk in just over 4 hours.

Diana said: We were really pleased with how generous people were and very pleased with the sum we raised.

The ladies expressed thanks to their families, friends and the many clients of the practice whose generous support enabled them to raise the money for the charity.
