OKEHAMPTON Ladies A team had a rather disappointing end to what had been a successful season in division two of the Exeter and district tennis league.
Going into their last three matches Okehampton were top of the table but two losses and only one win means that they will probably finish mid table.
Playing away against Exeter Golf and Country Club C in July, Okehampton won 6-4 in four closely contested matches before the team struggled on the grass courts at Budleigh Salterton coming away with only two points.
In their final match of the season Okehampton came up against a full strength team from Tunnels. In their first match against the second pairing Julia Moysey and Angela Herrod-Taylor went down 3-6, 4-6. Beth Carter and Jackie Jarvis also lost 3-6, 1-6. Tunnels' first pair were too strong for the Okehampton couples who lost in straight sets.
Despite the disappointing results Okehampton are assured a place in division two of the league next season but have to wait until all the other matches have been played before finding their final league position.
