PRINCETOWN'S darts players recently battled it out for the Graham Nash Memorial Darts Interpub Shield, raising £630 for the Princetown Community Fund.

The event is a challenge between the top players from the Railway Inn, the Plume of Feathers and the Prince of Wales pubs — the final took place at the Railway Inn last weekend.

The shield competition ended with a nail-biting contest between Micky Cole from the Railway Inn and Malcolm Waite from the Plume of Feathers, which Micky finally won 3-2.

All players paid an entry fee and each pub had a raffle which raised £520 in total. A Dyson vacuum cleaner, which was donated by the landlord and landlady of the Railway Inn and auctioned, raised a further £110.

Chairperson of the Princetown Community Fund Liz Steele said there was an electric atmosphere for the final and everyone left on a high.

She thanked wife of the late Graham Nash, Sue and her family for all they had done for the fund which supports Princetown groups and projects.

Thanks were also expressed to all the supporters of the event and the landlords and landladies of the Princetown pubs.

The next fundraiser for the Princetown Community Fund is the Casino Night at the Railway Inn on March 20.
