FOLLOWING the success of last year, the 10th Vintage and Classic Vehicle Rally and Fayre will return to Merton this month.

The rally will be held on Sunday, April 30 at Clinton Hall. Visitors will be welcome from 11am until 5pm.

A spokesperson for the Merton Vintage and Classic Vehicle Rally and Fayre said: ‘We hope that we can equal or even better the turnout from last year, with people coming to Merton from all over Devon, Cornwall and even as far as Somerset.

‘Entry forms have been coming in thick and fast, so it looks like we are going into another great year of vintage and classic vehicles, including cars, tractors, commercial vehicles, motorcycles and stationary engines.

‘We are also able to offer rides in a 1950 OB Bedford 24 Seat Coach which will bring back many memories of summer outings and school days.

‘You will also be able to ride in a 1927 Phantom 1 Rolls Royce which in its day was used at “The White House” and ridden in by Sir Winston Churchill.’

Other attractions on the day include fairground rides, Bideford Youth Pipe Band, North Devon gun dog display, science workshops, live music with Steve Valentine, falconry displays and ferret racing.

There will also be an art exhibition, craft, local produce and trade stalls, Torrington fire engine and road safety car, hot food, hog roast, refreshments, cream teas, licensed bar and Hockings Ice Cream van.

There will be a prize draw, with a first prize of a two-night hotel stay, which will take place on the day.
