DEVON Artsculture is currently looking for talented young people to join its Youth Mentoring Scheme. The scheme is part of Devon Artsculture?s programme to promote economic development and rural regeneration through the arts in Devon for which it was recently awarded over £500,000 in European Objective 2 funding. The Youth Mentoring Scheme, which launches this month, is one of the cornerstones of Devon Artsculture?s activities. The scheme will offer young creative practitioners aged between 16 and 25 the opportunity to benefit from a tailored programme of mentoring and support delivered by range of established, local arts professionals. Talented young artists and musicians who live in North Devon, Torridge, West Devon or the South Hams will be eligible to join the Youth Mentoring Scheme. The programme will be led by Beaford Arts and driven by Projects Officer, Sadie Green. ?We?re on the look-out for passionate, talented and committed young people who want to succeed in the arts industry,? she said. ?If they have plans to set up in business as a professional artist or musician or they?re already gigging or exhibiting their work, the Youth Mentoring Scheme is here to help them move on to the next level.? Matt Griffiths, development director for Dartington Plus, said: ?The mentoring scheme is a fantastic opportunity for young emerging artists to work alongside established professionals to increase their understanding of life in the profession and inspire them to develop their own career in the creative industries in the future.? Lisa Warren Clark, director of Beaford Arts, said: ?This mentoring scheme will aim to support young, inspiring practitioners to identify their goals and achieve them. This first programme will run from April 2005 until April 2006. Interested young people can obtain further details on the scheme and also an application pack either via email from [email protected]">[email protected] or they can download it from http://www.devonartsculture.co.uk">www.devonartsculture.co.uk.
