Okehampton 4
Ashmoor A 0
OKEHAMPTON continued their fantastic start to the season with another victory against an extremely young and fit Ashmoor side. After a very even start to game it was the home side who managed to get the first goal, Mark Parsons running through the defence and slotting the ball into the goal.
The game continued to flow as both sides used their possession well. It did not take long before the hosts doubled their lead, Simon Bourne smashing the cross in and Parsons glancing the ball past the goalkeeper.
Okehampton then created a couple of other good chances before Bourne had two goals disallowed and Luke Miller had a short corner well saved by the keeper. With a two nil lead at half time Okehampton knew that they had only done half the work and that their opponents would come back at them in the second half.
Not down hearted the away side continued to put the home side under pressure, both sides having plenty of possession without really creating any chances.
It was the home side who finally broke the second half deadlock when Parsons played a ball through leaving just Chris Luxton clean through and he calmly rounded the goalie to score the third of the match.
After the third, the visitors lost their fight, James Rogers finding Luxton who drove the ball home. With the game wrapped up Okehampton could afford to rest their key players ahead of their next league game. This was an excellent professional performance from the league leaders.
Man of the match: Nick Luxton
