A PICTURESQUE Dartmoor woodland near Okehampton will star in a global Netflix series, it has been confirmed to the Times.
Meldon Woods will be the backdrop for an episode in the next instalment of award-winning cult series, Black Mirror.
Created by Charlie Booker, the critically acclaimed show of self-contained episodes, which began life on Channel 4 before switching to Netflix in 2016, is due for release later this year.
Rae Langford, a representative for Black Mirror’s production company Zeppotron, confirmed filming was taking place on Dartmoor.’
A spokesperson for Okehampton Hamlets Parish Council confirmed that the area of Dartmoor used by the production company was Meldon Woods.
‘We can confirm that crews were filming at Meldon Woods, using parts of the woodland near the quarry.
‘The film company had asked permission to use a certain part of the woodland we own.
‘There were signs put up on certain days to let visitors know to avoid certain areas of the woodland when filming was taking place.’
