WEST DEVON planners will visit Germansweek this month to help decide whether to approve planning permission for a camping facility.
The borough council has received plans for the siting of four insulated timber tents, two 'Showman's' wagons, communal buildings and other structures to create a camping facility at Lower Brockscombe Coppice.
The submission was brought before the planning committee by Cllr John Hockridge, due to the large number of objections to the proposals. As well as being unanimously opposed by Bratton Clovelly Parish Council, 46 parties have raised their objections, including 20 residents of Germansweek and 16 West Devon residents. There were 13 representations of support, none from Germansweek, and eleven of those were from West Devon residents.
The planning officer has recommended approval, subject to a list of conditions being met. To find out more, visit the West Devon Borough Council website, quoting application number 02917/2012.
